This last weekend we went to Gillette to watch Shawn (Ryan's little brother) compete in 4A swimming and Diving. Shawn made it through the first to cuts and took 11th place. He was a little disappointed but not to much as he always has next year to hopefully make all state or at least podium (top 6 places). He also swam in a relay but i can't remember what place he took. Also at the last chance meet the weekend before state Shawn beat Ryan's 11 dive record. It's a little bitter sweet for Ryan, but he's glad it's still in the family.
While we were in Gillette we stayed with my Uncle Gordon. I hadn't been to his house since a year or so before my Aunt died 10 years ago this November. It was hard because other than my immediate family she was the closest family member i had. The house still looked the exact same even had the pencil marks on the wall where she would measure all of us kids and the dates. I saw one from my birthday in 1992. It's amazing the things your brain can retain from such a young age. I went downstairs and saw toys that my brother and i played with as children still in the toy box. I'm not very good at dealing with death so i had a little moment by myself downstairs where i cried a little because i just expected her to come walking around the corner any minuet or yell down from the top of the stairs. Also i was a little sad because my uncle seemed so alone with out her! On a good note my cousins little twin boys are adorable and getting into everything, one tried to drink Windex while we were there. Everyone seems to be doing well though.
On Sunday we headed over to Buffalo for Chloe's second birthday party. She got lots of nice things including some Tinkerbell stuff which is her new favorite character, a rocking horse, a v-tech computer to play games on, and a tea set and fake food to help mommy cook. We had a cake of mostly icing because that's the way Chloe likes it. It was nice to see the family and have Amber meet Rylee for the first time. All in all it was a great weekend!
